MAMAMEET2020

March 7, 2020Mary IkokuEvents, NewsNo Comments

In March 2018, Moms Africa partnered with Mindr and the United Nations Foundation’s Global Moms Challenge in the World’s Biggest Mama Meetup. We rallied African Moms across the continent to come together and share in the global conversation about how we can make the world better for all mothers, and how mothers can make the world better for everyone. To this end, we hosted our Moms Meet Up in all our locations in Nigeria and parts of Africa on the same day. Meetups took place around the world; In Nigeria alone we had approximately 40 meetups to discuss women’s issues relevant to our culture. Discussed issues highly relevant to working mothers in Nigeria: maternity and family leave. We talked about how a culture change needs to happen at the workplace in order to accommodate this major familial lifestyle change.

In this IWD 2020, Moms Africa is pleased to Host Nigeria’s Biggest Mama Meetup, and we want you to be a part of it. We are therefore inviting all Moms to come together, wherever you are, and share in this global conversation about how we can make Nigeria work for all mothers, and how mothers can make Nigeria work for everyone. To this end, we’ll be hosting our Moms Meet Up in all locations in Nigeria from March 8 to 15th 2020

Proposed Date: Mothers across Nigeria will on March 8 -15th (International Women’s Day/Month), be part of this global conversation on inclusivity in #MAMAMEET2020. So, get together and add your voices to the global drive towards gender inclusivity. If you’d like to help us find a local joint or other location to host this, we’d love to hear from you to help mamas facilitate on this day of global goodness.

Ways To Get involved;

1. Spread the word. Share the #MAMAMEET2018 flier and encourage all the mamas in your life to get involved!
2. Plan your meet-up. Become a #MOMSAFRICA Envoy by planning a gathering (online or off, with one friend or one hundred!), or join a planned meet up. Are you an organization or group? Plan an event in your workspace or with your network. Do you love moms but unsure how to become involved? We need you, too! Host or join a meetup and play an important role in this global movement.
3. Tell us how you’re going to participate using the hashtag #MAMAMEET2020 before and during your event.
4. Be counted. Share photos and experiences using #MAMAMEET2020 or email momsafrica and tell them how many people were in your group and what you discussed. They’ll add you to the tally for the Nigeria Biggest Mama Meetup!

Moms are helping to lead the way to a brighter future. Celebrate International Women’s Day with us!  EmergeMamaChampions #MomsAfrica Mama Meet Project
