November 25, the Campaign Against Gender Violence Begins

November 25, 2019Mary IkokuAround The WebNo Comments

Today, campaign against gender violence begins. All over the world, women experience various kinds of violence ranging from rape to physical violence to even restrictions within their own country homes which is very frustrating. The very societal and cultural barriers that stop us are even passed on to our children. Did you know that Lebanese women are not allowed to pass on their citizenship to their children? They are only allowed by marriage. Imagine every Lebanese woman going through that. Nevertheless, this is not the only case of violence we have. All over the world, in different countries, women experience a great deal of violence and insecurity that cannot even start to be mentioned. To this end, The United Nations started the 16 days campaign against gender violence as a period to tackle the problems women face and year after year, a topic is picked up and dealt with. For this year, it’s rape and our hash tag is #orangetheworld. Today, we join the Millions of gender based organizations who are willing to fight this cause to campaign against gender violence.
